2007 / 2008 SUPPLEMENTAL RULES OF PLAY

DIVISIONS U6, U8

 

Region 69 strongly encourages the coach to allow U6-U8 players to experience both offensive and defensive positions during the course of the season.

The coach MUST have a signed  Player Registration Form for each player on the team in his possession for every practice, game, or AYSO team event.

U6 Division

  1. Each team shall play with a maximum of seven (6) players

  2.  There shall be no goalkeeper.

  3. Players shall not be taught or assigned "positions," but shall be

    4. encouraged at all times to run after, and play, the ball.

  4. All players who are present at the beginning of the game shall  play

    5. three of the four quarters of the game, unless they are ill or injured.

  5. There shall be no offside rule.

  6. Officials will note which players score goals (for future team

    7. balancing), but no official score or standings will be kept.

  7. Sportsmanship  will be recorded as Above, Average or Below. Based on those markings, the Division Commissioner will determine teams to be invited to the Region Sportsmanship Party at the end of the season.

  8. Each team shall supply TRAINED and CERTIFIED parent referees for their own game.  Those teams that fulfill  this requirement for each of the 9 games will receive something special at the end of the season.

    U8 Division

     

  9. Each team shall play with a maximum of eight (8) players, one (1)

    10. goalkeeper and seven (7) field players.

  10. Except when mathematically impossible, all players who are present at the beginning of the game shall play a minimum of three quarters of the  game, unless they are ill or injured.  No player shall sit out two (2) quarters more than once during the season.

  11. Goalkeepers MUST play at least one quarter in a field position.

  12. Game scores will be recorded, but no official standings will be kept.

  13. Sportsmanship will be recorded as Above, Average, or Below.  Based on those markings, the Division Commissioner will determine teams to be invited to the Region Sportsmanship Party at the end of the season.

  14. The Offside Rule is enforced when it is blatant or obvious.

  15. There shall be no penalty kicks in U8.  A direct free kick shall be the penalty for a penal foul committed anywhere on the field.

  16. Each team that provides TRAINED and CERTIFIED referees that cover at least 15 referee assignments during the season, will be invited the U8 Debbie Held Tournament  at the end of the season.
