Volunteer Roles

Our league's success hinges on the dedication and spirit of our volunteers, who support a vibrant community of over 1,000 children. This commitment fosters an environment filled with sportsmanship, learning, and enjoyment. The substantial contributions from our volunteers make managing a league of this scale feasible. By volunteering, you ensure our region continues to flourish, providing a nurturing environment for our children to develop both as athletes and as individuals.

Reminder: Previous training or experience is not necessary, we train you.

Training:  All Volunteers must have completed a current Volunteer Form (valid for 15 months),
SafeSport, Safe Haven, Concussion Awareness, Cardiac Arrest, LiveScan, and job specific training.

On the Field Volunteer Positions

**COACH (By Division):**

- **U6 Coach**
  - **Responsibilities:** NO  weekday practice.  Practice and game together on weekend. Communicate with parents.
  - **Training:** 6U Coach, SafeSport (2 hours), Safe Haven (1 hour), Concussion Awareness (30 min), Cardiac Arrest (30 min), LiveScan
  - **Weekly Time:** Planning and running 1 practice/game (1 hour),= 1 hour/week for 10 weeks.

- **U7 & U8 Coach**
  - **Responsibilities:**   60 minute weekday practice, coach on game day, communicate with parents.  Focus  on developing teamwork                                                            and understanding game rules.
  - **Training:**  8U Coach, same as above.
  - **Weekly Time:** 1 practice (1 hour), game day (1 hour) = 2 hours/week for 10 weeks, plus 8U Tournament if team qualifies with 5 ref points.

- **U10 and Above Coach**
  - **Responsibilities:** 90 minute weekday practice, coach on game day, communicate with parents.  More Advanced skill training, strategic
       gameplay coaching, with additional focus on age-appropriate competitive coaching courses, and  techniques.
  - **Training:**10U Coach, 12U Coach, Intermediate, or Advanced Coach,
  - **Weekly Time:** 1.5-hour practice, game day (1-1.5 hours) = 2.5-3 hours/week for 10 weeks, plus playoffs.

**ASSISTANT COACH:**

- **Responsibilities:** Assist in practice and game-day duties, support head coach in communication and team management.
- **Training:** Same as respective head coach.
- **Weekly Time:** Slightly less than the head coach, depending on the division and specific team arrangement.

**REFEREE:**
- **Responsibilities:** Officiate games, ensure rules are followed, maintain safety and fairness.
- **Training:** SafeSport (2 hours), Safe Haven (1 hour), Concussion Awareness (30 min), Cardiac Arrest (30 min), Referee Training                                                                (7 hours- 4 hours in person, 3  hours online).  LiveScan for Intermediate and above, or Regional refs who cover more than 1 game.
- **Weekly Time:** Flexible; typically involves officiating 1-2 games per weekend.  Referees sign up for their own games.

**TEAM MANAGER:**
- **Responsibilities:** Organize team communication, manage logistics and schedules, coordinate with parents for snacks and transport.
- **Training:** SafeSport (2 hours), Safe Haven (1 hour) Cardiac Arrest (30 min), Concussion Awareness (30 min), LiveScan
- **Weekly Time:**  Weekly management (1-2 hours), varies with specific team needs.

Off the Field / BOARD Positions
 
**Regional Commissioner**
-**Responsibilities.**  Responsible for managing the day to day business, while complying in spirit and letter with the objectives of AYSO.  Executive Member of AYSO.
-**Training.**  Same as above, including RC training (weekend) 
-**Weekly Time.**  Varies, Pre-season planning, in-season, post season, 2-6 hours/week

**Assistant Regional Commissioner**
-**Responsibilities.** Assist RC with managing the day to day business.
-**Training.**  Same as above.
-**Weekly Time.**  Varies, Pre-season planning, in-season, post season, 2-3 hours/week

**Regional Coach Administrator**
-**Responsibilities.**Responsible for coach selections, training, communications, practice schedules, and managing coaches throughout the season.
-**Training.**  Same as above, Coach Administrator Training.
-**Weekly Time.**  Varies, Pre-season planning, in-season, post season, up to 2-3 hours/week

**Regional Referee Administrator**
-**Responsibilities.**Responsible for referee selections, training, communications, and managing referees throughout the season.
-**Training.**  Same as above, Referee Administrator Training.
-**Weekly Time.**  Varies, Pre-season planning, in-season, post season, up to 2-5 hours/week

**Treasurer**
-**Responsibilities.**Responsible for Budget, paying and recording all bills, making deposits, managing via QuickBooks, reconciling monthly statements,
-**Training.**  Same as above, Treasurer Training.
-**Weekly Time.**  Varies,  up to 1-3 hours per week

**Safety Director**
-**Responsibilities.**Responsible for the safety of playing fields and equipment. Provide Soccer Accident Insurance Forms in the case of injuries, provides
       Medical Clearance Forms when an injured player is ready to return to play.
-**Training.**  Same as above, Safety Director Training and annual updates..
-**Weekly Time.**  Varies,  up to 1-2 hours per week

**Registrar**
-**Responsibilities.**Responsible for planning and implementing registration for players and volunteers.
-**Training.**  Same as above,  Registrar Training..
-**Weekly Time.**  Varies,  up to 1-4 hours per week pre-season. During season 1-2 hours per week.

**CVPA Child and Volunteer Protection Advocate**
-**Responsibilities.**  Ensures the Region is in compliance with the AYSO Safe Haven Program, Safe Haven Child and Volunteer Protection Policies.
-**Training.**  Same as above, CVPA Training and annual updates.
-**Weekly Time.**  Varies,  up to 1-4 hours per week pre-season. During season  minimal, 1-2 hours per week.  followup.

**Scheduler**
-**Responsibilities.**   Determine field allocations for each division, develop, enter, and publish R69 game schedule, assist Area P with giving field space for Area and         EXTRA games if we have teams in those circuits.
-**Training.**  Same as above,
-**Weekly Time.**  Varies,   pre-season  4-10 hours. . During season  minimal, up to 1 hours per week if changes are needed.

 **DIVISION COMMISSIONERS (Specifics by Division):**

- **U5  Division Commissioner**
 
 - **Responsibilities:** Season management, problem-solving.  NO team formation.
  - **Training:** Orientation (2 hours), SafeSport (2 hours), Safe Haven (1 hour) Cardiac Arrest (30 min)  Concussion Awareness (30 min)
  - **Time:** Pre-season heavy lifting (6-8 hours total), then 1-2 hours/week for administrative tasks and support.

- **U6 to U8 Division Commissioners**

  - **Responsibilities:** Coach recruitment, team formation, season management, problem-solving.  8U plan year end tournament for qualified teams.
  - **Training:** Orientation (2 hours), SafeSport (2 hours), Safe Haven (1 hour).
  - **Time:** Pre-season heavy lifting (8-10 hours), then 1-2 hours/week for administrative tasks and support.

- **U10/U12/14UDivision Commissioners**

  - **Responsibilities:** Similar to U6-U8 Commissioners, with additional duties around playoffs and competitive play.
  - **Training:** As above, with focus on managing competitive aspects.
  - **Time:** Pre-season (8-10hours), regular season oversight (1-2 hours/week), increased during playoffs/ during all star selection.

**Uniform Director**
- **Responsibilities:**Order Uniforms, arrange for delivery and distribution to teams.  Keep track of each team's style and color.  Order replacements
      as needed.  Work with RC and Registrar regarding team count, and player per team count.  Place preliminary order in June.
- **Training:** aame as above.
- **Weekly Time:** Varies; pre-season up to 6-10 hours,  start of season 6-10 hours delivery and distribution, up to 1 hour/week after this.

**Equipment Director**
- **Responsibilities:**   Take inventory of and order all equipment, such as goals, nets, balls, cones, first aid kits for the region.  Arrange for repairs.
     Distribute equipment as needed.
- **Training:**  Same as above.
- **Weekly Time:** Varies; pre-season up to 6-10 hours,  start of season 6-10 hours.  up to 1 hour/week after this.

**Picture Day Coordinator**
- **Responsibilities:**  Arrange date, location, and photographer  for the event.  Sunday, late Sept/early Oct, Pali High FB .  Set up, post, 
     and distribute Picture Day Schedule to families.  Arrange for delivery and distribution of photos - early November.
- **Training:** Same as above.
- **Weekly Time:**  4-6 hours preparation, 8 hours day of event, 6-8 hours delivery,  distribution and followup of photos.

**Awards Director**
- **Responsibilities:**   Determine number count for trophies, pins, medals.  Place order and provide Team names and respective player names for trophies
       in late September or earlier.  Arrange for delivery and distribution in early November.  Coordinate with Picture delivery.
- **Training:** Same as above.
- **Weekly Time:**     6-10 hours total.

**Sponsor Director**

- **Responsibilities:**   Track donations and contributions, and send acknowledgement letters for tax purposes, as as a "thank you".
- **Training:** Same as above.
- **Weekly Time:** Varies; pre-season up to 6-10 hours,  start of season 6-10 hours delivery and distribution, up to 1 hour/week after this.

**WEBSITE, SOCIAL MEDIA, COMMUNICATIONS:**
- **Responsibilities:** Update league news, manage social media posts, communicate important dates and events.
- **Training:** Same as above.
- **Weekly Time:*  up to 4-10 hours total.

- **Allstar / EXTRA Coordinators**
 - **Responsibilities:** Work with RC, Div Comm, in managing tryouts, selections, notifications.  Oversee Program. tournament applications, refunds.
  - **Training:**   Same as above
  - **Time:** Pre-season planning (6 hours total), season oversight (1-2 hours/week), increased during tryouts & selection.


- **Director of Post Season Playoffs**
 - **Responsibilities:**    Assist with region playoffs, share rules with playoff coaches, check proof of age, make sure medals are awarded, and share
       Area P information with winners, who advance to Area P Playoffs in January.  Set up Region 69 Site manager volunteers for Area P playoffs at our assigned
        location. 
  - **Training:** As above, with focus on managing competitive aspects.
  - **Time:** Pre-season planning (6 hours total), season oversight (1-2 hours/week), increased during tryouts & selection.
